(1835) English neurologist John Hughlings Jackson is born. He is known for his research in epilepsy and being a co-founder of the Brain journal.

(1910) Vietnamese doctor Đặng Văn Ngữ is born. He successfully developed a way to manufacture penicillin, and researched ways to prevent and treat malaria.

(1969) The first temporary artificial heart is implanted by Dr. Cooley.
