(1888) American neurosurgeon and scientist Walter Dandy is born. He is considered one of the founding fathers of neurosurgery and credited for a number of discoveries including describing the circulation of the cerebrospinal fluid within the brain.
(1911) German biologist Feodor Felix Konrad Lynen is born. He shared the 1964 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his co-discovery of the regulation of cholesterol and fatty acid metabolism.
