(1810) Hungarian-Austrian anatomist and biologist Josef Hyrtl is born. Along with being a well-known professor of anatomy, he wrote Handbook of Topographic Anatomy, the first applied anatomy textbook of its kind ever issued.

(1810) German physiologist Theodor Schwann is born. He is known for his theory of cells, discovering Schwann cells and for his discovery of pepsin.

(1976) American nutritionist Paul Bragg passes away. He was an advocate of water fasts, organic foods, juicing and exercise
