(1741) Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus the Younger was born. He is best known for his work in botany, describing a variety of plants and vegetables.

(1944) American psychologist James McKeen Cattell is born. He is known for helping psychology become established as a legitimate science and created a variety of different mental tests for things like reaction time and memory.

(1952) Greek psychiatrist and translator Nikos Sideris was born. He has written a number of books on child psychology.
