(1) (1517) Flemish physician and botanist Rembert Dodoens was born. He wrote multiple books on plants and their medicinal uses.

(2) (1912) French oenologist and researcher Émile Peynaud was born. He is known as the forefather of modern oenology, the study of wine and winemaking.

(3) (1924) Medical doctor Roy Lee Walford was born. He was a pioneer and advocate of the field of caloric restriction.
