(1) (1914) Turkish physician and Minister of Health Nusret Fişek is born. He is known for his research on tetanus toxoid, the vaccine used to prevent tetanus.

(2) (1914) French surgeon, writer and philosopher Henri Laborit is born. He is remembered for discovering the antipsychotic uses of chlorpromazine, a drug commonly used today to treat psychotic disorders like schizophrenia.

(3) (1936) Chinese-Australian cardiac surgeon Victor Chang is born. He is known for his heart transplant success rate and for his contributions to the development of the artificial heart valve.
