The Yoga for PTSD Myth

Myth: Yoga is not effective for individuals with PTSD.

Truth: This is false.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition among individuals that have experienced a traumatic event such as abuse, natural disasters, and war. PTSD causes individuals to experience flashbacks, severe anxiety, and changed behaviour.

Yoga has been used as a complementary therapy for many conditions such as anxiety disorders, depression, and psychosis. A study published in BMC Psychiatry looked at the effects of this therapy for PTSD and found that yoga has both biological and psychological effects.
